The Human Light, From the Field
Documenting Creators in Paris and Japan

Studio Tales handles the photography and documentation for the international cultural project “The Human Light.
” Toward the nationwide touring photo exhibition in December 2026 (Tokyo, Hiroshima, Okinawa), we are currently continuing portrait sessions with creators in both Paris and Japan.

What The Human Light seeks to preserve is not a finished work of art. It is the journey of a person living today, their thoughts, and the very record that they were here. Everyone who stands before the camera has their own story. Our work is to hold that warmth in photographs and words.

Here are a few of the creators we have photographed.

David Beaulieu, an actor based in Paris.
Chihiro Nakamura, a calligrapher — the fleeting gesture born of ink and brush.
And “Le Gang du Zabuton,” who perform rakugo in French. Its founders, Sandrine Garbuglia and Stéphane Ferrandez, are the first rakugo performers in France, trained by rakugo storytellers from Osaka in 2009. They have completed five performance tours in Japan, taking root in France with the art of storytelling on a single cushion.

Different nationalities, different generations, different forms of expression. And yet, the stories gathered through these sessions will, in time, resonate together as a single montage. The story that emerges changes depending on who takes part. That is exactly why we ourselves, the ones behind the camera, are looking forward to seeing what kind of exhibition December will bring.

We are now inviting participants for the free feature program toward the December exhibition. Your story, too, can become part of this record.
